Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly accident around 9 this morning on Highway 34 near Highway 75 south of Bellevue.
Captain Kevin Griger says an eastbound pick-up turned in front of an eastbound semi tractor trailer hauling lumber.
Griger says witnesses say the pick-up driver stopped at a stop sign and then turned east in front of an oncoming semi. He says the pickup rolled several times but stayed on the road. That male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi also rolled into a ditch and lost the load of lumber it was carrying on the road. That male driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities say the speed limit on Highway 34 is 65 MPH and the semi had the right-of-way.
Names of the victims have not been released.
