A 55-year-old Beatrice man has been killed after his large riding mower flipped, pinning him underwater in a creek.
Family members had alerted authorities after the mower operated by Max Manes went over an embankment and landed upside down in a creek.
Deputies from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and rescue crews from the Beatrice Fire and Rescue team arrived on the scene. The sheriff’s office reports Manes’ body was found under the mower, described as a large zero-turn lawnmower.
Manes worked as an accountant in Beatrice.
The Gage County Attorney has ordered an autopsy.
