Authorities have identified the man who drowned in the ConAgra Lake at Heartland of America Park in downtown Omaha.
The Omaha Police Department identifies the victim as 31 year old Hector Castaneda-Vasquez.
Omaha Fire and Rescue crews recovered Castaneda-Vasquez’ body Thursday morning.
The search began in earnest after a woman reported to authorities late Wednesday evening she had heard a man calling for help. Authorities first turned off the large water fountain in the lake, but were unable to find anything.
After three hours Wednesday night, authorities called off the search. It resumed the next morning, using boats equipped with sonar. Searchers found the body about 30 feet from the shore. They had to use long poles to bring the body out of the water.
Swimming is not allowed in the lagoon.
