All Nebraska veterans are urged to head to Omaha on Saturday for an important event at the V-A Medical Center for a Wellness Fair. Will Ackerman is the communications director for the V-A Nebraska – Western Iowa Health Care System and says this is an informative event for veterans who may be eligible for services.
Ackerman says, “For veterans who aren’t enrolled who might be eligible for V-A health services, this is an opportunity for them to come in and see if they are eligible and if they are get enrolled on the spot and also get them an appointment on the spot as well.”
If veterans are not enrolled they should bring their DD Form 214 with them. If they are eligible the business office will take care of all the necessary paperwork.
Eligible veterans will receive free health and hearing screenings as well as learn about primary and specialty care, mental health care, women’s health services, nutrition, weight loss, exercise, health promotion and disease prevention programs.
The V-A Omaha Medical Center is located at 42nd and Woolworth Street and the Wellness Fair runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
