A mountain lion which killed a goat calf on a ranch in the Nebraska Panhandle has been put to death.
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission officials report it is the second time a cougar has killed livestock in modern times.
Game and Parks Commission officials confirmed that a male mountain lion killed a calf near Hay Springs in Sheridan County. The landowner reported the kill on May 30th after finding the carcass. Game and Parks representatives examined the carcass and found that a mountain lion was most likely responsible.
The landowner worked with Game and Parks to find the mountain lion and kill it in accordance with the state Mountain Lion Response Plan.
