Nebraskans are asked to display blue bows and pinwheels to honor two young Elkhorn boys who died in tragic accidents nearly one year ago. Three year old Aspen Seemann drowned in an accident at West Shores Lake near Waterloo. Lane Graves was vacationing with his family at Disney World when he was pulled underwater by an alligator.
Aspen’s aunt Trisha Newell says seeing those bows and pinwheels displayed means a lot to both families. She says, “It is weird. I’ll be driving to work and I’ll see somebody that has a pinwheel or blue bow on their car to show support for the families. It actually makes my heart smile.”
Newell says they have seen pictures of bows and pinwheels from as far away as Australia. Those wanting to share memories and pictures can do so at the Lane Thomas Foundation or the Aspen Drake Seemann Foundation.
