After spending the last four years as the starting quarterback at Nebraska Tommy Armstrong is trying to make it in the NFL as a defensive back. Armstrong has switched to safety for the Minnesota Vikings and is going through Organized Team Activities.
Armstrong says right now the focus is on fundamentals.
“And get as much practice as I can and just get out here and get prepared”, said Armstrong. “It is hard but at the same time it is not supposed to be easy.”
Armstrong started 44 games for the Huskers and owns eighth career records, including total offense. He says safety is not a completely new position for him.
“I played a little bit in high school so it was not anything new”, added Armstrong. “Muscle memory wise getting repetition is what it is all about. come out of college I just wanted to get an opportunity no matter where is was.”
