A 46-year-old Lincoln man has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for possessing child pornography.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office reports federal District Judge John Gerrard sentenced Christopher Rueter to 57 months in federal prison. Rueter will be placed under five years of supervised release after serving the prison sentence.
An investigation began in August of last year by both the Lincoln Police Department and the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office which led to a search warrant being issued to investigate Rueter’s residence.
Rueter admitted to using BitTorrent file sharing which he used to download child pornography and child erotica. An examination of his computer discovered more than 1500 image files of child pornography, including several image files of prepubescent minors and children under the age of 12 engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
