Freshman receiver Keyshawn Johnson Jr. is taking a leave of absence from the Nebraska football team. The Omaha-World Herald reports his father, Keyshawn Johnson Sr., says his son returned home this week intends to return to Lincoln in January. Johnson enrolled this past January after a standout high school career in California with the hope of playing next season.
Johnson missed time during spring practice due to an illness and earlier this month was cited on suspicion of majrijuana possession by University of Nebraska police.
Johnson was widely considered one of the top 50 receivers in the country coming out of Calabasas High School where he had 48 receptions, including 11 touchdowns as a senior.
