Athletic trainer Susan Yeargin says there are ideal times if you want to get in a workout and still be outside.
“Do your best to avoid between 10 and 5 while working out,” Yeargin says, “so if you can work out before 10 or after 5 PM,” that would be best.
She suggests it’s typically cooler in the morning or evening, but adds, it’s okay to exercise during the day, if you do it right.
“If you have to work out in between 10 and 5, then, hopefully you can do that indoors and not outside,” she says.
If you start feeling too hot during your routine, don’t push it, she says. Stop, rest and cool off.
Yeargin stresses the importance of staying hydrated, taking plenty of breaks and wearing light-weight and light-colored clothing.
