The Ralston Arena at 73nrd and Q Street in Ralston is going to the dogs this weekend – literally. They are holding a two day Pick-a-Pooch adoption event. Pets of Omaha Founder Lee Legenhausen is organizing the event and says this is a great way for people to get to know more about dogs and get information on finding their perfect pet. He says the dogs at the event are from local shelters and rescue groups.
Legenhausen says, “This year we will have 27 rescue and shelter groups will be here. We also have over 115 business booths that want to be seen by the pet parents. Some inside the pet industry. A lot are not in the pet industry but care about the animals.”
Legenhausen says 132 pets found new homes last year through this event and they are hoping to beat that record this year. He says some of the groups that will be taking part include the Nebraska Humane Society, Town & Country Humane Society, Little White Dog Rescue, Midwest Dog Rescue Network, Pointer rescues, Boxer rescues, Huge Dogs-Big Paws Rescue and many more. All of the groups are from eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. Several cat adoption groups are also taking part.
The event is free of charge and runs from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Ralston Arena is located at 73nd and Q Street in Ralston.
