When fall camp begins at Nebraska work will resume on a new 3-4 defense installed by coordinator Bob Diaco. Senior linebacker Chris Weber says the goal is to become familiar enough with the new looks that it will be about reading and reacting when the games begin.
“That’s what fall camp is for and that is what the five weeks before the season are for”, said Weber. “To continue to build on what we started in the spring and to get to the point where it is just reactions.”
The Huskers return six starters from last year’s unit that finished sixth in total defense in the Big Ten.
Weber says most of the installation took place during spring drills and now it is about refining when practice begins.
“In the spring we installed a lot of what coach Diaco wants to run”, added Weber. “It is nice going into fall camp knowing we have seen this stuff it is just about perfecting it.”
The Huskers open September 2 at home against Arkansas State.
