There will be plenty to do at the Nebraska State Fair midway even though one ride will be absent. Shawn Shleif is the marketing and sponsorship director with the State Fair and says one ride is sidelined this year.
Shleif says, “They put out an order that all Fireballs’ be sidelined by all carnival operators around the world. That includes our carnival operator which is Wade Shows. We, like everyone else is crazy about making sure the rides are inspected and inspected well – including those third party inspectors.”
Last week the Fireball ride broke apart in midair killing one person and injuring several others. The manufacturer, KMG in the Netherlands, is looking at the ride that failed and others to see what exactly the issue was. Shleif says fairgoers won’t be disappointed as there still have about 40 rides and attractions so there is fun for everyone.
Shleif says there is also a great concert lineup that includes Brad Paisley, Ronnie Milsap, Cole Swindel, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and more. The Nebraska State Fair runs August 25th through September 4th in Grand Island. Other attractions will be the midway and lots of food on a stick.
