Just how do you enforce a name change?
State officials have settled on a small tip for charity.
We caught a glimpse during Gov. Pete Ricketts’ introduction during a recent news conference.
“We’ve got Moe Jamshidi with the Department of Transportation,” Ricketts said as he introduced attendees. “I don’t owe a dollar to that jar.”
A little later in the news conference, Bob Hanover with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission handed the podium off.
“So, with that I’ll turn it over to Moe Jamshidi with the Department of Transportation,” Hanover said, quickly adding, “No dollar for me either.”
“For those of you who don’t know what the joke is about, since we just changed our name from the Department of Roads to the Department of Transportation, anybody that says Department of Roads, they have to put a dollar in the jar and we’re giving that to charity at the end of the year,” Jamshidi said, adding. “It’s grown very fast.”
