The Nebraska volleyball program has been a victim of its own success and veteran coach John Cook faces a rebuilding job heading into a new season. The Huskers lost four standout seniors off last year’s team that made it to the Final Four and Cook also had to replace much of his coaching staff.
“For me it is about a reinvent and that is really energizing me”, said Cook. “I am excited to be a teacher and teach and really kind of reinvent our program again and reinvent this team”
The Huskers have a young squad that includes six first year players on the roster.
“We want to try and be good early”, added Cook. “By the time we get to the Big Ten we want to become a great team because the league is really going to challenge us and the by the time we get to the end of the season and the NCAA Tournament we want to try to be unstoppable. I really believe we can do that.”
Nebraska opens by playing Oregon on August 25 at a tournament in Gainesville, Florida.
