Parents in Grand Island are being urged to check their children’s Facebook accounts in wake of the arrest of a man accused of arranging to have sex with a 12-year-old girl.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports 44-year-old Jeremy Doudney of Grand Island has been charged with suspicion of enticement by electronic device and jailed in Hall County.
A family contacted the patrol late Monday morning, stating that a man had begun a sexual conversation with their daughter through Facebook. The family says the girl attempted to end the conversation, but the man persisted. She told her parents who contacted NSP.
The girl turned over her Facebook account to an NSP investigator trained in undercover operations for online internet crimes against children. The investigator posed as the girl, picked up the conversation, and identified the suspect through photos posted on Facebook.
Arrangements were made to meet at Pier Park in Grand Island where Doudney was arrested.
NSP urges parents to check their children’s Facebook accounts for suspicious activity that could be linked to this case and report it to Nebraska State Patrol Troop C Investigative Services in Grand Island at (308) 385-6000.
