A house exploded in Lincoln late Monday afternoon, leaving two residents with life-threatening injuries.
Lincoln police and fire report both Jim and Jeanne Jasa remain in critical condition at CHI St. Elizabeth Hospital, where they are being treated for severe burns.
Investigators continue to sift through the debris in an effort to determine the cause, but have been focusing the possibility of a natural gas explosion. Investigators have ruled out an external gas leak.
The explosion destroyed the house at 5601 St. 78th Street. It caused significant structural damage to 17 neighboring homes.
Fire investigators, police officers and representatives of Black Hills Energy remain on the scene. City building inspectors have been going house-to-house, checking for damage. Three houses were moved off their foundations and have been red-tagged by officials.
