A veteran Omaha teacher has been killed in a traffic wreck this past weekend.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports 49-year-old Brett Rhodes of Omaha died in a three-vehicle crash in Omaha, near the intersection of 204th and F Streets Saturday night.
Rhodes taught science and social studies at Millard Public Schools for 24 years.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports Rhodes was driving his pick-up south on 204th when it suddenly veered across the median and struck a traffic sign and two northbound vehicles. Investigators say they don’t know what caused the truck to go off course.
Emergency crews flew Rhodes to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Three people in one of the other vehicles were taken to Berger for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation into the wreck continues.
