It may be running back by committee when Nebraska opens the season against Arkansas State. Husker coach Mike Riley says while there is good depth at the position no clear starter has emerged.
Tre Bryant, Devin Ozigbo and Mikale Wilbon combined for 155 carries in 2016 and Riley says all three have been consistent in fall camp.
“All I can say is we will have by the first of the week a depth order”, said Riley. “But I am telling you there is not a big separator right now.”
Ozigbo is the Husker’s top returning rush after tallying 412 yards in 2016.
Riley also announced that senior receiver De’Mornay Pierson-El will handle punt return duties.
“We all love De’Mornay and what he can bring but we also have to have other guys trained”, added Riley. “We are pretty versatile but De’Mornay will be the initial guy.”
