Just make sure as you go to Memorial Stadium on Saturday, you comply with the new bag policy.
The Huskers have been promoting the change ever since the Spring Game: no big purses, except for small clutch purses or clear bags, about the size of a gallon plastic freezer bag.
“This is the industry standard throughout the NFL and virtually all of colleges and universities are going to this policy,” Associate Athletic Director Butch Hug tells Nebraska Radio Network. “If they haven’t already done so, then they are moving that way.”
Hug says the change has been well publicized. He doesn’t expect it to come as a big surprise to most fans. Still, some might be caught off guard.
Hug says it is always exciting to get the season underway and everyone is eager to kick off a new season.
“Players and I’m sure fans, because now they’ve had an extra week to read about the Huskers with the additional week of practice and so the more stories and that; I think everybody’s ready to play,” Hug says.
One other aspect might come as a surprise to Husker fans. The bridge on 10th Street, between Cornhusker Highway and Military Road, is out and under construction. It will be out the entire football season.
