Nebraska Ag Director Ibach nominated to top USDA post

September 4, 2017 By Brent Martin

Agriculture Dir. Greg Ibach speaks to reporters during a news conference as Gov. Pete Riciketts and Economic Development Dir. Courtney Dentlinger look on.

Long-time Nebraska Agriculture Director Greg Ibach has been chosen for a top position at the United States Department of Agriculture.

President Donald Trump has nominated Ibach to be Undersecretary of Marketing and Regulatory Programs.

Ibach has been Nebraska Agriculture Director since 2005. Then-Gov. Dave Heineman first appointed Ibach as director. Gov. Pete Ricketts kept Ibach on the job.

Trump also chose Iowa Agriculture Director Bill Northey as Undersecretary for Farm Production and Conservation.

Both positions are subject to Senate approval.
