Nebraska defensive coordinator Bob Diaco says his absence from the post game interviews after the win over Arkansas State was not intentional and the result of miscommunication. Diaco moved up his weekly meeting with reporters to Monday to address the situation.
“I have never run away from anything in my life”, said Diaco. “I have never not stood up and been accountable. That has never happened and will not ever happen. To be painted that way is absolutely ridiculous.”
The Huskers visit Oregon this week and Diaco knows first year Ducks coach Willie Taggart well. They coached against each other when Diaco was the head coach at UConn and Taggart was at South Florida.
“A staple of a coach Taggart offense is that they are tough”, added Diaco. “He is a tough guy and he loves to run the football. There is a lot of window dressing that goes on but they run the football and run it well.”
Oregon rolled up 703 yards in a 77-21 season opening win over Southern Utah.
