Omaha police believe speed, alcohol, and not buckling up played a role in a fatal crash this past weekend.
According to police, 22-year-old Chase Kruse of Elkhorn died Saturday night when his pick-up crashed into a large metal utility pole.
Police report Kruse was driving west on Leavenworth Street, turned on Elmwood Park Drive, and lost control of the pick-up near 60th Street. It left the roadway and hit the utility pole.
Omaha Fire Medics arrived on the scene, declared Kruse dead. He was the only occupant and was not wearing a seat belt.
