Northern Illinois quarterback Ryan Graham will miss his second straight game when the Huskies visit Nebraska. Graham suffered an elbow injury in Northern Illinois’ season opening 23-20 loss to Boston College. Daniel Santacaterina stepped in and passed for 252 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-10 victory over Eastern Illinois.
“Besides two decision I thought he played an outstanding game”, said Northern Illinois coach Rod Carey. “I was really excited for him and happy to see that he executed that way”
Carey says playing a game at Nebraska is important because of the financial windfall the program receives.
“And that is a vital part to our institution, our athletic department and our football program”, added Carey. “From the competitive side of it, who doesn’t want to go play Nebraska? It is one of the blue blood programs in the nation and a great environment.”
The Huskies and Cornhuskers last met on Sept. 8, 1990 when Nebraska claimed a 60-14 win in the last of a two-game series in Lincoln between the teams. Nebraska won the 1989 meeting, 48-17.
