Nebraska coach Mike Riley says the Huskers need a feel good win and they will try to get one on Saturday when they host Northern Illinois. Nebraska is 1-1 after a 42-35 loss at Oregon and improvement begins with a defense that has given up more than 1,000 yards in the first two games. The challenge against the Huskies will be a familiar one.
“They were more what I would say is the pro standard offense but they have gone to what we have been getting a dose of the past couple of weeks”, said Riley. “It looks like more of that.”
The offense has put up some big numbers but also needs improvement after turning the ball over four times in the loss at Oregon.
“What we need is consistency”, added Riley. “To be called good you have to be consistent. That’s our whole offense right now and where we have to go.”
Northern Illinois is also 1-1 after a 38-10 win over Eastern Illinois. Kickoff in Memorial Stadium is 11:00 a.m. The game will be carried by FOX Sports One.
