A prisoner who fled the Community Corrections Center during work-release is a suspect in a crime in Omaha.
The Department of Correctional Services reports 30-year-old Nicholas Hupp fled the Community Corrections Center in Omaha September 13th while being searched at the prison. The department says Omaha police were notified immediately.
Hupp was serving time on a number of convictions from Douglas and Sarpy Counties, including theft, drug possession, attempting to sell drugs, and obstructing a police officer.
Hupp began serving his prison sentence in 2007. He was paroled in 2012. He committed crimes while on parole and was returned to prison. Hupp became eligible for parole and had a parole hearing scheduled for November, making him eligible for work release.
