Dozens of people gathered this morning to give a grand send-off to an injured bald eagle that became a local favorite. The eagle was found Memorial Day weekend near Syracuse suffering a burn to his skull. The eagle underwent surgery and has been recovering for the past several months.
Betsy Finch with Fontenelle Raptor Recovery says, “He has gotten very feisty, really ready to go before we thought he would be. He is flying very strongly. I’m confident he will do fine. This type of injury will heal just fine in the wild, actually probably better.”
Finch says the eagle can fly and hunt on his own and should adapt back to the wild with no problem.
