Omaha police are investigating two deadly shootings within hours Monday. The first happened near 60th and L Street around 4:30 p.m. Witnesses told police that a semi driver got out of his truck and knocked on the window of a pickup. When the truck driver turned around and started walking back to his truck he was shot in the back. The truck driver is identified as 32 year old James Womack of Omaha. He was rushed to a hospital in extremely critical condition and later died. Police are looking for the suspect’s vehicle, a late 90’s or early 2000’s Chevy Silverado extended cab pickup that is tan, beige or pewter in color.
The second deadly shooting happened at 11:06 p.m. at the Bizarre Glass shop near 40th and L Street. An employee told police that two suspects were attempting to rob the store when he fired a gun. 18 year old Jose Mario Velazquez was rushed to a hospital where he later died. The second suspect took off and has not been located.
Police continue to investigate both shootings.
