Omaha police have been looking for a Chevy Silverado pickup since Monday afternoon’s shooting death of 32-year-old James Womack, a possible victim of road rage.
Police report a Crime Stoppers tip led to locating that vehicle Tuesday night, providing information which had not been released to the public. The search for the driver continues.
Witnesses tell police that Womack got out of his semi and confronted the driver of that pickup. Some believe it was a case of road rage. When Womack turned and started walking back to his semi he was struck by gunfire from that pickup. Many of those witnesses came to his aid before medics arrived. He was rushed to a hospital in extremely critical condition and later died.
Womack was a father of three and Monday was his daughter’s birthday.
Omaha police urge anyone with information to contact their Homicide Unit at 402-444-5656 or Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP.
