The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office reports a deputy was transporting 37-year-old Eric Scott from the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center in Lincoln to the Dodge County Jail when Scott fought with the deputy and forced him from the vehicle on Highway 77 about three miles south of Ceresco. Scott drove away, traveling south on Highway 77.
Authorities regard Scott as armed and dangerous. He is believed to have a 40-caliber Glock semi-automatic handgun.
Scott is described as 5-foot-10, weighing 190 pounds. He drove away in a dark gray 2012 Chevrolet Impala with government license plates: #42650.
The deputy, who has not been identified, was taken to Fremont Health Medical Center as a precaution.
Scott is serving a two-to-four year prison sentence for his fifth driving under the influence conviction in Sarpy County. He previously served more than six years in prison on a sexual assault and false imprisonment conviction in Burt County. Scott is listed on the Nebraska sex offender registry.
Scott had been scheduled to be released from state custody October 21st, but faces additional charges from Dodge County. He was scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing on five felony charges, including two counts of sexual assault of a child and child abuse.
Citizens are asked not to confront Scott or attempt to stop the vehicle if they spot him. Authorities say anyone with information should call 9-1-1. You can also call the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office at 402-727-2700 or contact any law enforcement agency.
