Nebraska coach Mike Riley says the short week of preparation won’t be a problem for the Huskers as they get ready for Friday night’s game at Illinois. Riley says the Huskers will combine Monday and Tuesday practices to get on a normal schedule.
“It is a little bit of a normal down and distance plus a little bit of third down offensively so we will go with that”, said Riley. “This is our day four practice and will be a little longer than our normal”
With Tre Bryant still nursing a knee injury Riley says the Huskers may continue to rotate Mikale Wilbon and Devine Ozigbo at running back but the offense is still looking for the right balance after passing for only 109 yards in a 27-17 victory over Rutgers.
The Husker defense has made major strides in the past couple of weeks and has given up an average of just over 203 yards in the last two games.
“It has been fun to see that growth and the excitement with what they are learning”, added Riley. “There are a lot of new faces that are playing a part in that.”
