Kevin Halle, admissions director at Wayne State College, says it was the first time the two systems partnered on an outreach mission.
Halle says, “The University of Nebraska system and the state college system here in Nebraska just entertained close to 400 school counselors around the state at five locations, bringing them up to speed on all of our offerings on each of our campuses.”
He says it was decided they could contact more high schools this way.
“We knew we were going to reach more counselors and instead of them having to struggle with who they are updated from and time out of their building, which we know is a challenge for them, we decided to partner together to make things more efficient,” he says.
Halle says they had good numbers at all of their meetings at Chadron State, the University of Nebraska-Kearney, Wayne State, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
He says all of the higher ed institutions are working to shore up the numbers of potential freshmen.
