Nothing has come easy for Nebraska this season and coach Mike Riley does not expect that to change when the Huskers make a rare weeknight appearance with a visit to Illinois. Nebraska has played on Black Friday for 27 straight seasons but this will be its first weeknight game in the middle of the season since a 2010 Thursday night game at Kansas State.
The Huskers are 2-2 after a 27-17 win over Rutgers.
“You always have to expect to be hard and we should not that by now by the way the games have gone”, said Riley. “We need to play a physical football game and a really smart game.”
This will be the second straight Friday game for the Illini, who enter Big Ten play with a 2-1 record under second year coach Lovie Smith. They have been idle since a 47-23 loss at South Florida on September 15.
Kickoff in Champaign is 7:00p.m. The game will be carried by FOX SPORTS 1.
