Nebraska coach Mike Riley says the competition jumps a level as the Huskers get ready to host ninth ranked Wisconsin. Riley says the Badgers are better than the Oregon team that beat the Huskers 42-35 back on September ninth.
Nebraska is coming off a 28-6 win at Illinois and Riley says they will need even more progress this week.
“What we absolutely need to win this next game is to get better”, said Riley. “I think this team will work to do that.”
The last two games in the series have been nail biters. The Badgers claimed a 23-17 overtime victory in Madison a year ago and beat the Huskers 23-21 in Lincoln in 2015.
“We had our opportunities a couple of years ago here to finish that game and didn’t do it”, added Riley. “And then we had we had the ball with a chance to score and win it last year and did not do that. It is really about finishing the game and make plays.”
