It is all about “Planes, Trains and Autos” this coming weekend at the Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum near Ashland. Marketing Director Deb Hermann says they are having a very special display featuring the various modes of transportation during the Cold War. She says they won’t have actual trains on display but the next best thing.
Hermann says, “We will have different model trains coming out and some of these are clubs. Two of these model train clubs are making their trains interactive so kids can get down on the floor and play with trains. Another group has theirs about waist height for kids. Others are displays only but the owners will be there to really highlight their modes of transportation with their train displays.”
Hermann says the automobiles will be nestled around several Cold War aircraft including the B-26 Peacemaker, a B-47 Stratojet, a B-42 Stratofortress and a B-58 Hussler.
Over 40 vehicles classics will be on display including a 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby, a 1972 Hurst Cutlass Oldsmobile, a 1966 Chevelle and a 1955 Austin Healey Roadster. The display is both this Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday is also Super Hero Day. Children are encouraged to dress in costume and can trick or treat around the museum. They will also have several super heroes there to welcome children, take pictures with and sign autographs.
