The mass shootings in Las Vegas Sunday likely won’t prevent people from traveling. Ralph Williams with Cruise Planners in Omaha books trips all over the world and says people love to travel and while people are concerned about safety they are still booking vacations.
Williams says, “We’ve been dealing with this type of thing for a long time now and in the last two years we have had one cancelation, a trip to Europe, because of people concerned about safety.”
Williams tells his clients that the risk of being a victim of an attack on any given trip is low. He says, “You have a bigger chance of being hit by lightning twice than you do than being involved in some type of attack. We tell our people going to Paris the biggest risk you have is crossing the street.”
Williams says people realize this is the world we live in today but life goes on. He adds people may be a bit more concerned attending outdoor festivals or concerts for a while but that too will pass. He says the tragedy in Las Vegas will not have a negative impact on that city’s tourism industry.
