Nebraska offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf says the Huskers need a more consistent run game as they prepare to host ninth ranked Ohio State. The Huskers are averaging more than four yards per carry but Langsdorf says there have been too many negative run plays that lead to third and long.
“We hit a 12 yarder and then we go zero and then we go one”, said Langsdorf. “We have got to get the most common runs in the four or five yard range and win the down.”
Tanner Lee is completing 54 percent of his passes and while Langsdorf says that is too low it is not all on the quarterback and the Huskers dropped too many passes in a 38-17 loss to Wisconsin.
Langsdorf says both areas need to improve against a standout Buckeye defense.
“They are exceptionally strong and fast up front”, added Langsdorf. “They are able to create some pressure without having to pressure too much and bring extra guys. That is always a concern in protection.”
