Visitors to Omaha will be excited to learn that a legendary Old Market eatery will reopen by the end of this month. M’s Pub was destroyed in an explosion and massive fire on January 9th, 2016. I was determined a contractor laying underground cables struck a gas line that fed the building at 11th and Howard Street. Investigators say the gas line was not properly marked.
The owners vowed to rebuild and executive chef Bobby Mckiney is very excited to be returning “home”.
Mckiney says it is surreal returning to M’s and getting back to work designing the menu options. He says he worked on this menu for twelve years prior to the fire and says it is a new experience moving forward.
The good news is that 80% of the menu will consist of M’s Pub favorites that include the carrot dog, the tile lavash, the lamb burger, the Omaha sandwich and the Iowa grill will all return. Mckiney says there will be a few new items he hopes that diners will try and enjoy.
