President Donald Trump signed an executive order yesterday that put an end to subsidies regarding the Affordable Care Omaha Insurance Agent Art Jetter says stay tuned as there is more to come.
Jetter says, “From what I understand Trump ending the subsidies really is a power play to force Congress to create a bipartisan fix to heathcare.gov or to the Affordable Care Act. it is kind of scary.”
Jetter says in other words it is a game of chicken right now. He says the executive order does three things. He says Trump wants to expand association health plans and expand health reimbursement arrangements and expand the availability and duration of short-term medical insurance. Jetter says they are all reasonable requests
Jetter says, “I think there is every possibility that a fix will be forth coming giving states more rights within their borders regarding healthcare and the subsidies will come back.” Many Nebraskans are relying on that. Jetter says right now about 30,000 Nebraskans rely on those heath care subsidies to help pay out-of-pocket costs.
Jetter reminds Nebraskans that only so much can be done regarding healthcare reform without congressional action.
