Nebraska hosts its second straight top ten foe as ninth ranked Ohio State invades Memorial Stadium. The Huskers suffered one of their worst losses ever a year ago in Columbus and to have a chance in this one will need to contain a Buckeye offense that ranks in the top 20 in rushing and passing and is led by senior dual threat quarterback J.T. Barrett.
“You have got to be really sound in all the parts”, said Nebraska coach Mike Riley. “Whether they are runs for him or whether they are passes and he runs. Everybody has got to stay in coverage and take good pursuit angles and then we you get a chance everybody has got to be a good tackler.”
Ohio State has faced several opponents that run odd fronts on defense but coach Urban Meyer calls Nebraska’s 3-4 scheme unique.
“They are pure two-gap and drop eight”, said Meyer. “It is the type of defense that you are going to have to work for everything and you won’t have many shots downfield.”
It is the Buckeyes second visit to Lincoln after the Huskers rallied for a 34-27 win in 2011. Kickoff is 6:30p.m. The game will be carried the Fox Sports 1.
