Congressman Don Bacon continues to pledge his support for “Dreamers”.
Bacon says, “I think we’ve got to fight to do the right thing. I’ve known about 80 of these DACA kids and some of them will break your heart. They’ve been hiding their whole life and worried about having a broken tail light. I met a girl the other day who wants to go to New York University to be a professional dancer. Another guy already has a clothing company. He is 17 years old and already has his own clothing line. They are very sharp young folks who only know this country.”
With that said, Bacon says that doesn’t take away the fact that we need immigration reform. He is equally committed to fixing that problem. He says along with 300,000 to 400,000 illegal immigrants coming into the U.S. we also have a Visa problem. Many of these individuals come here with a legal Visa but they stay illegally after it expires.
Bacon says 70% to 80% of Americans agree that DACA youth should be allowed to stay in the U.S. so his thoughts are inline with the majority. Bacon says the number of illegal immigrants entering the U.S. is down since President Trump took office.
