Nebraska coach Mike Riley says he met informally with new Husker athletic director Bill Moos after his introductory news conference on Sunday. During Tuesday’s Big Ten Coaches Teleconference Riley said they have known each other for several years. Riley was the head coach at Oregon State when Moos was the athletic director at Oregon.
“I happened to have been in the building around that time”, said Riley. “We were doing a recruiting weekend and they called me and said he was upstairs in the stadium. So I just had a brief meeting with him kind of a hello and congratulations meeting and we kind of talked about old times.”
Moos officially takes over on October 23. Nebraska is 3-4 and on a bye week after a 56-14 loss to Ohio State. Riley says the Huskers returned to the practice field today.
“I thought it was a great workout and what we did was appropriate”, added Riley. “It was a little bit less game planning and more back to the basics.”
The Huskers return to action with a visit to Purdue on October 28.
