Mike Riley says he is focused solely on coaching as the Huskers returned to the practice field during their bye week. The hiring of Bill Moos as Nebraska’s new athletic director has put Riley’s future into question and he was asked Wednesday if he viewed the remainder of the season as an audition.
“I want to do the Jim Harbaugh deal and just put that sign up above my door that says ‘coach the team'”, said Riley. “That is all I am going to worry about and I will let the rest take care of itself.”
Riley has been with the attitude of the team following a 56-14 loss to Ohio State but says the offense needs to become more efficient to get things turned around.
“I am disappointed in the offensive production”, added Riley. “In this day and age with all the points being put on the board we have to be more productive.”
Nebraska returns to action October 28 at Purdue.
