Nebraska basketball coach Tim Miles believes the Huskers can be a surprise team in the Big Ten Conference this season despite a series of defections from last year’s team that finished 12-19. Speaking at Big Ten Media Day in New York, Miles says while the league has a handful of elite teams after that there is a lot of balance.
“You have got extremely successful coaches and well resourced programs”, said Miles. “You have got teams that if you get injured you are dead and if you get on a roll you could be real good. There are those teams that are steadfast but on any given year something good could happen.”
Four players left the team after last season but Miles says this year’s team is more cohesive.
“I had four kids in my office last year before we played a game that asked me about their position”, added Miles. “This year I have had zero ask me about their position.”
The Huskers open the regular season November 11, at home against Eastern Illinois.
