At least one person is dead, another injured after a semi tractor-trailer collided with a train in the Panhandle.
The truck driver is reported to have died in the accident Friday morning. A passenger has been taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash.
The Scottsbluff Star Herald reports Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Deputy Logan Ledroit confirmed the death of the driver. Ledroit said a juvenile girl injured in the crash was taken by Air Link to the hospital for treatment. The extent of her injuries are not known.
The crash of the truck with a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train occurred around 7am at County Road 12 and Highway 26 near Mitchell.
Few details have been released. No identities have been released.
