Animal lovers in Nebraska are very concerned after a seven-month old pointer mix was shot for no apparent reason Sunday morning in near 28th and Marcy Street in Omaha. Nebraska Humane Society’s Vice President of Field Operations Mark Langan says the dog, Buster, was secured in a yard, not barking or bothering anyone when someone walked up and shot him.
Langan says, “Talking to the neighbors and everything, this was a great dog, didn’t bother anyone. A fun-loving type dog and for some reason somebody decided to shoot it. He has a very serious bullet wound to the dog. We hope he is going to make it so our veterinarians are doing absolute best they can to try to save the dog.”
A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible. The NHS is working with Omaha police in searching for a suspect. Langan says anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers with their tip.
