Purdue coach Jeff Brohm will work on the confidence level of his team this week in practice. Considered an early surprise in the Big Ten after starting 3-2 the Boilermakers have lost two straight games, including a 14-12 loss at Rutgers.
“After the last game I am sure some of our player’s confidence was shot a little bit and we have got to get that back up”, said Brohm. “The mindset has to get back to being confident every time you step on the game field.”
Purdue has been rotating quarterbacks David Blough and Elijah Sindelar and Brohm expects that to continue. The quarterback who can solve the Boiler’s third down woes may win the job. Purdue has converted on only 12 of 51 third down opportunities in Big Ten play.
“When you get in third down situations unless it is four or less most of the time it is a passing situation and we have not been able to produce in the passing game”, added Brohm . “That is just the fact of it and we have not been able to find a way to get that done.”
