A video that showed up Monday morning on social media grabbed the attention of the Bellevue Police Department. That video shows four teenagers brutally beating another teen at a park near Bellevue East High School on September 29th.
Investigator Laurie Synowiecki says they were able to identify and locate the suspects. She says, “All of these suspects are juvenile males between the ages of 16 and 18. Because they are juveniles they were issued citations.” Those citations are for 3rd degree assault and one was issued a citation for robbery after a chain was taken from the victim.
Synowiecki says they are grateful to those who came forward with this video. She says the victim likely wouldn’t have stepped forward and those responsible wouldn’t have been held accountable. The teens were released to their parents and it is now up to the Sarpy County Attorney’s Office to decide if the boys will be charged as adults. The victim, identified as Kalani Zalopany, was not seriously hurt.
