A 31-year-old Walthill man has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in federal prison for failure to register as a sex offender.
After Newton Dale serves his prison sentence, he will have to serve five years of supervised release.
Chief U.S. District Judge Laurie Smith Camp sentenced Dale, because he failed to register as a sex offender even though he had been advised to do so by his probation officer. Dale had convicted of statutory rape on the Omaha Indian Reservation in Nebraska in 2013. Dale lived on both the reservation and in Norfolk after serving his prison time, but failed to register as a sex offender with either the Madison County Sheriff’s Office or the Omaha Nation Law Enforcement Services.
