If a 3-4 record and speculation over his future as head coach is wearing on the Huskers Mike Riley says it has not shown in practice. Idle since a 56-14 beating at the hands of Ohio State the Huskers return to Big Ten action by visiting a Purdue team that is 3-4 under first year coach Jeff Brohm.
“These are good kids and they have grown in a lot of ways but we just have to continue to grow the football part of it and win”, said Riley. “Because I think we are getting the rest of it from these guys.”
The bye week helped the Husker defense get as healthy as it has been all season. Safeties Joshua Kalu , Antonio Reed and Aaron Williams all returned to practice and will play on Saturday.
“I am excited finally to see that picture we anticipated seeing on the very first day of the season”, added Riley. “The only unfortunate part of it is they have not been together the entire time and playing.”
Kickoff in West Lafayette is 6:30p.m. The game will be carried by the Big Ten Network.
